WhatsApp widget

WhatsApp is where your customers already talk. This widget connects your AI assistant directly to a WhatsApp Business number through Meta's Cloud API, so every message a customer sends becomes a conversation the assistant can answer instantly — and every reminder, confirmation, or follow-up your team would normally send manually goes out automatically.

Insighto connects to WhatsApp through Meta Cloud API directly. Twilio-WhatsApp is not used.

What you can do with it

  • Post-purchase support (e-commerce) — A fashion DTC brand routes its WhatsApp number through Insighto. Buyers message "where's my order?" and the assistant pulls tracking from Shopify and replies in seconds. Returns get triaged the same way, with the assistant generating the label on the spot.
  • Appointment reminders (healthcare / dental) — A dental clinic sends 24-hour reminder templates the day before. Patients reply "reschedule" and the assistant offers the next three open slots and books one — no front-desk involvement.
  • Lead nurture (real estate) — A developer captures phone numbers at open houses. The next morning, an automated template kicks off ("hi, here's the floor plan you asked about"); replies fall back into the assistant, which answers pricing, financing, and tour-booking questions.

How it works

Before you start

You need a Meta-approved WhatsApp Business number. If you don't have one yet, follow the WhatsApp Business channel setup to provision through Meta or a BSP (Gupshup / 360dialog).

You'll need four credentials handy:

  • Phone number — the actual number in E.164 form (e.g. +15551234567)
  • Phone number ID — from the Meta Business app dashboard
  • WhatsApp Business Account ID
  • Permanent access token and app secret

Create the widget

  1. Open Build → Widgets → Add widget → WhatsApp.
  2. Paste the four credentials above.
  3. Link your assistant.
  4. Save.

Wire up the webhook in Meta

In the Meta App dashboard, go to WhatsApp → Configuration → Webhook:

  • Callback URL: https://api.insighto.ai/api/v1/webhook/whatsapp_webhook
  • Verify token: insighto!2#$
  • Subscribed fields: messages

Click Verify and save. Meta should accept it on the first try.

The 24-hour window and templates

Meta only lets you reply freely for 24 hours after a customer's last message. Outside that window, you must send an approved message template.

  • Inside 24 hours — the assistant talks naturally. No template needed.
  • Outside 24 hours — send a template from your approved list. Customer replies reopen the 24-hour window.

Submit templates inside Meta Business Manager. Once approved, they're selectable when you trigger outbound from Insighto.
