Instagram DM widget
Instagram is where lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and creator-led brands sell. This widget handles DMs and story mentions automatically — answers "is this back in stock?", responds when someone shares your post to their story, books appointments, and qualifies leads — all without your social team typing every reply.
What you can do with it
- Influencer brand support (beauty / cosmetics) — A skincare brand gets thousands of "which serum for oily skin?" DMs after every launch. The assistant answers with a recommendation, links to the product page, and offers a discount code for first-time buyers.
- Boutique retail (fashion) — A small label's IG drives most of its sales. DMs asking "do you have this in size 8?" get an instant answer plus a checkout link. Story mentions ("I love this!") get a thank-you and a referral code.
- Restaurant / hospitality — Diners DM "are you open tonight?" and "can I book a table at 8?". The assistant checks the reservation system and confirms — no missed Friday-night walk-ins.
How it works
Before you start
You need:
- An Instagram Business or Creator account (personal accounts don't have the API).
- The IG account linked to a Facebook Page (Meta requires this for the messaging API).
- Admin access to that Facebook Page.
Create the widget
- Open Build → Widgets → Add widget → Instagram.
- Click Connect Instagram — sent to Meta for OAuth.
- Pick the Facebook Page linked to your IG account.
- Approve permissions.
- Link your assistant.
- Save.
Insighto subscribes the IG account to the app and wires the webhook for you.
Story mention triggers
When a user @-mentions your IG account in their story, Insighto receives a story mention event and routes it as if it were a DM. Use this to thank fans automatically, send referral codes, or surface UGC for your team to repost.
The 24-hour window
Same rule as Messenger: free reply for 24 hours after the user's last message, then you're limited to specific message tags. Standard for Meta channels.
